The Anchor Brewery site was founded in 1836 by Richard Bullard and survived into the 1960s as a bottling plant until the remaining brewery buildings adjacent to the Dukes Wharf site were converted into private dwellings. The finely constructed brick foundations of the Bullard’s Anchor Brewery were revealed in the western area of the site. These included inverted arch foundations, and the bases of metal posts which once formed part of the buildings' Victorian fireproof construction.
Two parallel sets of rail lines were also discovered which comprised of steel tracks (14” gauge) set into the factory floor with concave channels between them to serve as a barrel run.
